There is pleasant walking on the estate, the gamekeeper can arrange fishing (extra charge), whilst a nature reserve lies at the river mouth just south of Ballantrae (4 miles) and the Galloway Forest Park offers superb cycle trails. Ancient castles and churches dot a landscape steeped in history – Culzean is well worth a visit. Golf at Royal Troon or Turnberry is within a short drive. Hotel bar and village shop 1.5 miles

Reviews
Beautiful area, simple and unspoilt. Great for walks, bird and red squirrel watching, fresh air and getting away from it all. Feels slightly isolated in a peaceful way but not alone and only 10-15 minutes to the coast and a local spar shop. The children were very happy watching lambs and pheasants. All the local towns seem to have very good playgrounds for children too.
